  • Notes
    • Vigilio left Austria for the United States in 1898. He went to join his brother, Alfonso, in the coal mines in Carbonado, Washington. Later, his sister, Maria Anzelini, came to America to join her brother Vigilio. She met and married Charles P. Rubin who arrived in the United States about the same time as Maria. Charles P. Rubin apparently came through Mexico. They had an apple orchard in Chelan, Washington, until the water level of Lake Chelan was raised and most of the apple orchard became underwater. My husband, George Churchill, remembers visiting his grandparents and other aunts and uncles in Lake Chelan in the summer. When George traveled to Italy in 2005, he was struck by how similar Lake Como was to Lake Chelan and how the area where his grandmother, Maria Anzelini, lived (Fondo, Austria - now Italy) was surrounded by apple orchards.
